Off topic, last night I went looking for some Buffy/Spike fiction and it was the worst experience of my life. I honestly wanted to dig my eyes out with a spoon. I read this one where Spike was all sweet and lovey dovey and just...I gagged. I like the Big Bad. I like him like he is. They ruined him. I pouted, wrote in my Zelda fic and went to bed.

I hate when Spike is butchered like that...I cry emo tears of disgust. D: ...Perhaps I'll need to write something. << On top of my other projects, of course.

I was motivated.

Spuffy often exemplifies everything I hate about vampire romance. He, a vampire with a dark past, an angry facade, and the secret weepy heart of a 12 year old girl! She, young and special and beautiful, with a tortured soul and dark longings! Only with each other can they find peace and happiness and rainbows and babies and also bloodplay! (Oh GOD, the babyfic, have you seen the babyfic?)

Although apparently it can be done well; I've seen some from authors I trust? But I cannot read, the scars run too deep.

Okay, Big Bad fic... And Ice For Your Wounded Heart, Xander/Spike/Dru, a retelling of The Snow Queen, dark. Backfire, Xander/Spike, Xander/Angel, Xander/Angel/Spike, Xander/Cordelia, Angel/Buffy, creepy vampire sex magic, fuck or die, noncon, dubcon; possibly a more lovey Spike than you'd like? But it's also a cheerfully people-eating Spike, so. Sweeter Far Than Flowing Honey and Doubtful Dreams of Dreams, various pairings, super fucked-up, death, torture, rape, revenge, mind control; Season Five Spike gets rid of the chip and it doesn't end well.

(And the only Buffy/Spike fic I've ever managed to stomach - they didn't list the pairings! I was tricked! - Impossibly Delightful Flesh. Long, weirdly convincing genderswap set in Season Five. Willow/Tara, Xander/Anya, Buffy/Riley (briefly), Buffy/Spike.)

No, I haven't seen the babyfic. God help me if I do. I'm going to shoot myself. And I'm probably going to do a big bang for the Buffyverse. I thought about it before I took a nap today, and decided to try it out. I've always wanted a Buffy fic. Just needed to do a little research on it first.
