Strange Places, Familiar Faces
Today's theme: crossovers and their ilk (I never get to use that word!).
Imperfections: John and Rodney (John/Rodney) [Stargate Atlantis/The Sentinel] - WiP. Rodney is a "fragile" Sentinel and John is a guide. I really liked the worldbuilding for this fic, where Sentinels are known and respected and employed in everything from law enforcement to architecture.
35 Minutes (Seth/Sark) [The OC/Alias] - Seth meets Sark on a plane. Something that will never not be awesome? The way Seth spends pretty much the whole relationship suspecting that he's dating a supervillain. But you can't say no to sex with Sark.
The Things I Cannot Change (Simon/Lex) [Firefly/Smallville] - Lex ends up in the future. The far future. This story is so fantastic that I shipped counter to my OTP.
Clex-in-Discworld, or, Disclexia (Clark/Lex) [Smallville/Discworld] - Clark is journalist. Lex is a Black Ribboner. This is just a pitch-perfect fusion fic.
Father Goose Tales (Xander/Faith, Jack/Irina) [BtVS/Law and Order: SVU/Alias/Gilmore Girls/Stargate SG-1] - WiP. So, this is one of my favorite crossover series EVER. Rare crossovers! That keep everybody in character! Plus, Watcher!Xander is my favorite, and there are some really fantastic details in the worldbuilding (the new Council has a helpline!). There's humor and action ands romance and basically, I'm just in love with it.
Context (Lex/Justin, Lance/Clark, Clark/Lex) [Smallville/Popslash] - This is the story that started my slow slide into popslash. It's hilarious. Lance comes to Smallville on business with Lex.
Daemonology (John/Rodney) [Stargate Atlantis/His Dark Materials] - Another fusion fic, this does some fantastic things with daemons.
It's Like Your Hand (John/Rodney, Justin/JC/Chris/Lance/Joey) [Stargate Atlantis/Popslash] - NSYNC (circa 1999) appear in Atlantis (circa 2007). John and Rodney end up "foster parents". Except, y'know, it's Rodney, so there's a lot of not-actually-apparent-in-any way sympathy and refusal to learn names.
Change is the Only Constant (gen) [House/DCU] - Batman comes to Princeton-Plainsborough for treatment. One problem: House used to be Robin. I kind of want a million more stories like this.
The Chronicles of Riddick - The Underverse (Xander/Riddick) [BtVS/The Chronicles of Riddick] - WiP. Riddick has to go back in time to prevent the Necromongers from ever existing. The place to do that? The Sunnydale Hellmouth, 1999. Warning: some character bashing.
Hell's Handyman (gen) [BtVS/Anita Blake] - WiP. Xander gets transported to the Blakeverse with no way back. Turns out he has a destiny after all. Really, really good' really, really long time since it was last updated.
Summer House and the sequels, Shore Leave and Sabbatical (John/Rodney) [Eureka/Stargate Atlantis] - This fic got me into Eureka. It's Pru, so you know it's good, but y'all, Eureka and SGA were made for each other. John and Rodney and the town of dangerously spastic geekitude = OT3 forever!
Black Magic by Moonlight (Various) [Harry Potter/Anita Blake] - Oh, Harry. An hour in St. Louis and he gets kidnapped for a scrificial ritual where he, once again, lives. Just not, y'know, as a human. Primary pairing is Harry/Draco.
hope you survive the experience - Will (i am) (William Beckett/Gabe Saporta) [RPF/X-Men] - So, okay, band boys as X-Men, I was always going to love this fic. But! Fabulous exploration of the concept of gender and also teen shapeshifter angst!
Prophecies? We Don't Need No Stinking Prophecies! (Various) [BtVS/Harry Potter/Other Fandoms] - WiP. Xander, on a Council mission in the Potterverse, gets stuck holding the baby. Literally. Then, ten years later, Dumbledore needs Harry Potter to come home - and he's not taking no for an answer. I kind of love this fic - "kind of" because I want Dumbledore's comeuppance now. It's a really good "family you choose" story.
