Wallowing and Dread
Mmmm, terrible Xander crossovers. I...don't know; this is like the one thing where the worse they are, the more I like it. It's like glee in self-defense. Like, there's this author*. And she has a metric ton of Xander crossovers that I've been reading for days. The stories, though? Include things like Willow the homophobic practicing lesbian (multiple stories!) and a kind of theme of I'm straight-I'm straight-I'm straight-kiss me, I'm gay. Oh, and she totally retcons herself; there'll be a plot point like a journal/documents proving Dumbledore was in league with the Bad and once you see it, it shows up several times in quick succession, but before that, nada, even though the good guys have supposedly had it for years. It's an afterthought. Plus she bashes a lot of female characters - Buffy, Willow, Hermione, Anya - but, except for Anya, they go from awesome to terrible to awesome (often several times). It's weird and uneven and strangely hypnotic.
Also mmmm? Hellboy fic; there should be more.
Not tasty in the least? I apparently never uploaded the last version of
list50's by fandom masterlist and I don't know where it is. This means that the thing's about twenty lists out of date and missing 72 fandoms (yeah, right?), including at least two I'd class as major-minor**. That is going to hurt to code.
On the plus side! I, personally, have now hit 50 lists posted at
list50 (54, actually) and the latest is one y'all might want to check out; I went back to my roots a bit and did a theme, crossovers: Don't Forget Your Passport: 50 More Treks Through the Multiverse. The standard Buffy crossovers, some of which don't even feature Xander!, and then some weird-but-brilliant xovers like Doctor Who/Tin Man, Supernatural/Criminal Minds, and Alias/The L Word. Good stuff!
*I will totally name names if asked, because I hate it when people talk about fic and then refuse to elaborate, but it feels rude to just bust out with it.
**I have too many fandoms. Therefore, I've got four that count as major (BtVS, HP, SGA, crossovers, which should totally count as a separate fandom) and then I've got the 90 - 100 minor fandoms (read only occasionally and I probably really love less than a dozen or so fics per fandom) and in between, there's the major-minor, the ones where I read a lot, have read a long time, read obsessively for a month, whatever, I like a lot of fics, but not the literally hundreds like in my major-majors. Major-minor fandoms include Heroes, Torchwood, Smallville, Supernatural, RPF, and Firefly.
