Although apparently I am very strongly disinclined to read AUs that branch significantly before Naruto steals the scroll after the genin test? Like, they can AU whatever but my brain needs that to play out the same at least in the broad strokes, because Naruto/shadow clones = my jutsu OTP?

Oh man, this post is taking me back. Sadly, I don't have links and I stopped reading/following Naruto and the fandom years ago but I had fun for the moment I was in it. Then I mostly read on FF.net.

Everything is so ridiculous! Like, I'm reading a fic that includes a line about "of course it's strange, we're ninja - we walk on water because it easier than learning to swim" and I was just like YES, THAT.

Also you can literally trace the line of inspiration on this set of stories to the point where it's kind of a conversation? It is amazing. Vulpine homages Sakura's bloodline and the system of divinity from Time Braid; Time Braid rebuts Chuunin Exam Day by forcing Naruto to operate outside a vacuum.

I am totally rocking all FF.net for this nonsense. I don't even know where else to go, it's been so long since I've really been into a non-Western aka non-AO3 fandom.
