BAAAAAD Idea
Dec. 3rd, 2005 04:41 pmI should not have ideas! Ideas are bad! Because they don't go away.
I keep thinking "You know what Atlantis really needs? A kestra'chern." And no, they don't! Because those are two universes that should never meet!
Although...possibly some Atlantis team could find Kaled'a'in on some random world, and they mention in the briefing that they seem to have a form of psychiatry, and Kate gets all excited and wants to visit and Learn From the Primitives. And then there's wacky fun, because all the kestra'chern think the Atlanteans are dangerously uptight and repressed, and Kate is completely baffled ("You're a psychiatrist AND a hooker! You can't do that! Ethics!"). And then someone could point out that while she's no Carson, she's not exactly stellar at the decision-making (coughDuetcough).
This whole thing where the mission only gets one psychiatrist seems rather dodgy. If they were going to possibly be cut off from earth forever, they totally should have sent a few, because that position is rife with the potential for abuse even when your actions are subject to review. And what were they supposed to do if Heightmeyer snapped? And possibly there should have some kind of xenopsychologist included, although that may be an area covered by the anthropologists. But yeah.
Elizabeth could totally do with some sessions with a kestra'chern. Not so much John or Rodney. It just doesn't seem like it'd work for them. But for her, yeah.
But none of that matters! Because it's not going to happen.
