I Want Yuletide!

So I guess I'll be playing Rune Factory: Frontier for another six hours? How is farming so absorbing, guys, and why are objects so hard to get? The freaking general store doesn't sell anything! And why can't I ask the rune expert about the island's mysteriously failing rune, which, btw, may cause it to fall from the sky and kill us all? How is that not an important dialogue?
