I did that 100 movies meme in 2011, but typing it up is kind of a pain in the ass, so! For now, I'll just share the 10 best movies I saw (for the first time) in 2011. Best movie I rewatched? Confidence, always.
10. Made in Dagenham - Really interesting! And there is not enough YES in the world for Rita's speech to Eddie.
09. Hanna - BEAUTIFUL TRAGIC FAIRY TALE AND I NEED ALL OF THE HANNA/SOPHIE FIC IN THE WORLD FOREVER NOW.
08. What's Your Number? - It was a really fucking funny movie and I love Anna Faris and I really love the ending.
07. Scream 4 - Sidney Prescott is the MOST badass. Like, the twists kept me guessing, but it was all about Sidney for me.
06. 50/50 - I loved Adam and Kyle and Skeletor.
05. Footloose - Kenny Wormald, who plays Ren, is fucking AMAZING. The thing where he's dancing alone? FOR REAL MY FAVORITE PART OF THE MOVIE. HE WAS DANCING HIS FEELINGS AND IT WAS GREAT.
04. Fright Night - Clever protagonist + genuinely terrifying villain (who is also clever!) = A++. Also, the mom and the girlfriend ALSO got to be smart and awesome, which I enjoyed a lot. ...I maybe want some Charley/Amy/Peter fic (the thing at the end, in his apartment!).
03-02. Friends with Benefits and No Strings Attached - They're really similar movies, so I'm going to talk about them, together, alright?
Sexual honesty (little to the left, brush your teeth, etc.)! Playfulness! The leads are also attracted to other people! Families and issues thereof that had nothing to do with the characters' SOs! NSA was slightly more successful at building a wider world/more three-dimensional secondary characters, but FWB took that time to do an awesome "your issues don't mean you get to be a dick to/about me" thing, so. I really liked them both!
01. Lemonade Mouth - I honestly went into this movie with really low expectations, and then it was amazing and heartwarming and legitimately MADE ME CRY. IT IS THE MOVIE THAT GAVE ME ALL OF THE FEELINGS AND EVERYONE SHOULD WATCH IT AND WRITE FIC.
