So those awesome rec lists I was totally going to have done by now? Shoved aside in favor of Untitled Small Fandoms List, Take #79. It's totally a cop-out theme, I know! But so much of my fannish consumption these days is haphazard and slightly accidental. Like, I have subscribed to many new people, and I keep checking Latest Things for "three weeks for dreamwidth" and "recs", and I have this thing? See the shiny, follow the shiny? So there is a lot of "Oh, you're in that fandom? I was in that fandom! Oooh, let me bask in the glow of fannish nostalgia while simultaneously discovering new awesome in the form of these many fics you have linked here!" going on.

That's how I ended up doing Send Me an Angel (both versions)! That's to blame for the latest iteration of "but Kirk's stupid faaaaaace, you guys!" and also for the fact that I have spent two days reading Sheldon/Penny fic, and the day before that was all Vampire Diaries, all the time (I've never even seen that show! But I read one of the books, once?).

In other news, I desperately want a Generation Kill/Highlander crossover with Immortal!Brad, or maybe Immortal!Nate, mostly I just want Brad's "what is this bullshit?" reaction re: the Game. Also, you totally should have rolled into battle with a sword, Brad; see, sometimes Ray is right about things!

I...actually have no idea where I'm at with "Quantum Shenanigans (Schroedinger's Timeline Remix)" and "Loved Those of Great Ambition"; there are a lot of applicable stories I've recced before that I'm just not recognising from the titles, which means I'm going to have to fuck around with it somehow.

The character & pairing lists are kicking my ass, not because of inherent difficulty, but because it's super-dumb to try and do a Character X list at the same time as a Character X/Character Y list. So, poll?

They would just be 50 fics by like, six people, which I have generally tried to avoid in my lists. After the sixth fic, don't you just go to the author's index anyway? Also, Brad Colbert is a stone-cold badass. Middle of an ambush, at night, and he's singing to himself as he kills people. I kind of love him a lot, and possibly want to read about him being a serial killer. I'm not saying he's actualfax psycho like Trombley; I like serial killer fic and that would be a very easy sell, is all.

Nate kind of makes me want to cry. Every time he has to deal with his superior officers, you can just see his ideals dying and it hurts my heart.

I have about four weeks to find 54 stories (ETA: 21! I rock!) to finish my current list-set and also post three more lists/minilists. That'd put us at 50 lists posted to

list50 by the comm's second birthday, which I think'd be nifty. That's just not a lot of time. Plus, I'm bad about admitting when I can't find 50 stories for something I like, so minilisting's hard. I could totally do a Kiss minilist with just what I've got now, but other than that, I don't know.

Also, HOMG, LIFE WINS. I just found the first Hermione/Snape story I ever read! The archive was down, and then it change hands, and I just found out it's back up and the story's there! It has been driving me crazy for years, not being able to find that. All kinds of crazy stuff happens. It's got Harry/Draco, and Hermione and Snape drinking absinthe, and Viktor Krum the attempted rapist, and the creepiest curator ever, omg. All the Death Eaters who got Kissed end up in a museum display and the curator fixates on Lucius Malfoy, who, unbeknownst to anyone, cast some spell that keeps him aware, but in the semblance of the Kissed. And then there is Bad Touching. See for yourself.

I will say, though, that it has been years and it may be less awesome than I'm recalling. Also, it was WiP in those days and it now finished.

Am reading much HP fic for the rec set. Just read a strangely hypnotising fic called "Big dick, come quick." It was kind of crazy. It'd begun life as a three-part PWP, and then the author deicded to make it an actual story, so there are some annoying internal contradictions. And the sex is not entirely to my taste ("squelching" is not a sexy word, thanks). But I don't know; I couldn't seem to put it down.

Anyway. Off to save as much fic as I can for tomorrow.

Okay, so apparently, lack of internet makes me crazy. That is the only explanation.

Because I am making another table. But I ended up with like 65 prompts and I only need 50. And so I'd appreciate some help deciding what to cut and what to keep.
